EurekAlert! highlights discovery of the CytroCav process at Italy's CNR

17-Sept-2024 - With a news entitled "Revolutionizing waste management: Citrus waste to biopolymers via cavitation" EurekAlert! highlights today the discovery of the CytroCav process of Italy's Research Council.

"The research team applied both hydrodynamic and acoustic cavitation techniques to convert citrus waste into "CytroCell," a micronized cellulose, and "IntegroPectin," a highly bioactive pectin. This process, termed "CytroCav," requires only water and electricity, operates at room temperature, and is completed in a single step, making it an exemplary circular economy practice" writes the news service of the AAAS. commenting the article "Cavitation as a Zero-Waste Circular Economy Process to Convert Citrus Processing Waste into Biopolymers in High Demand" published on September 16 by the Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts.
