Mina Ghahremani ends successful international research stay

Nino Scurria, Silvia Chines, Mina Gharhemani and Erika Amore: young researchers at the MPL6-Sept-2018 - Mina Ghahremani, Ph.D. student in organic chemistry at the Institute for Advanced and Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), Zanjan, Iran, under the supervision of Prof. Babak Karimi, has ended today her 6 month international research stay at Italy's Research Council in the Labs led by Dr Pagliaro.

Her brilliant work on new generation sol-gel gold catalysts has resulted in a joint research article entitled "Green and Direct Synthesis of Benzaldehyde and Benzyl Benzoate in One Pot" just accepted for publication in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering.

During her stay, Mina has also co-authored a Perspective study entitled "Single-Atom Catalysis: A Practically Viable Technology?" first published as preprint on Preprints.org

Co-authored with University of Corboba's Professor Rafael Luque, the work will be shortly submitted for peer review at a top chemistry journal.

"Working at your Labs" said Mina in a comment "has been a great opportunity. I learned a lot and carried out great research in your nice research Group, getting valued experience. I am so thankful, and definetely look forward to working together again".

"We are grateful to Iran's Ministry of Science and Technology for the grant that made possible Mina's research stay in our Labs" said Dr. Pagliaro "and will continue to collaborate with Mina and with Professor Karimi at the IASBS".

Creating long-lasting research networks, improving career prospects, and easing the production of high-impact publications, short-term research stays today are the main form of international mobility in science.
