- It is already remarkable the list of
scientists who have
accepted to contribute an article to the 'Supported Molecular
Catalysts' due for publication in
ChemCatChemearly
next year. Scientists who agreed to send a manuscript for
peer-review include Reiner Anwander (Universität
Tübingen), Michel Wong Chi Man (Encsm), Masahiko Arai
(Hokkaido University), Marcus Rose (RWTH Aachen University), Serge Kaliaguine (Université Laval), Gerd
Buntkowsky (Technische Universität Darmstadt), Sónia
Carabineiro (University of Porto), Engelbert
Portenkirchner (University of Innsbruck), Vladimir Vinogradov (ITMO
University) and Valentine Ananikov (Russian Academy of Sciences).
Several others are in the process to join them.
Jointly edited by
Mario
Pagliaro
and
Bert
Sels, this special Issue on
heterogenization of
molecular catalysts was launched to provide a forum to discuss the
recent advances in immobilization of molecular catalysts and to
continue the discussion as to whether we can really bring the excellent
selectivity and activity of molecular catalysis to the heterogeneous
realm.
The scope of this Special Issue will
range from organic
synthesis and highly selective reactions through to photocatalysis and
electrocatalysis. Advances in immobilization methodology since
John Gladysz edited
a related issue in 2002 (
Chem.
Rev. 102 (2002) 3215) have been particularly significant
and will be showcased in this Special Issue of invited authors. In
order to target the very highest standard of submissions to this
exciting project, contributions to this issue, including
communications, full papers, and review-type articles, will be limited
to invited authors only.
"
Amongst the wonderful new
applications of catalysis
in all its forms -- comment Dr Pagliaro and Professor
Bels --
supported
molecular catalysts will transform the chemical industry of the
forthcoming solar economy in which raw materials
will originate from biomass.
The standing of the scientists who have already accepted our invitation
promises to make this themed issue a not-to-be-missed piece of the
mosaic comprising the central science: chemistry".
Launched in 2009 by Wiley-VCH, a publisher, along with
ChemPubSoc Europe
(an organization of 16 continental European chemical societies founded
in the late 1990s),
ChemCatChem
is one of the world's
leading
journals in catalysis science and technology. Edited by
Michael Rowan, the journal in 2016 has received hundreds of submissions
from nearly 60 countries.
Full Professor at Leuven's Katholieke Universiteit, Bert Sels is heads the
Surface Chemistry and Catalysis Centre
where his research Group is engaged in frontier researches in the
biorefinery and membrane technology fields. His achievements include
the recent development of new catalytic routesvalue-added chemicals
from wood, including both components cellulose and lignin, by
liquid-phase catalytic processing.
A distinguished researcher at Italy's Research Council, Mario Pagliaro
is a chemistry and energy scholar based in Palermo, Sicily, where he
leads a
research Group focusing on nanochemistry,
sustainability and the bioeconomy. The achievements of his
Group’s research developed in co-operation with leading
researchers based in 20 countries include numerous important advances
in catalysis, analytical, polymer and organic chemistry reported in
nearly 200 research papers and book chapters.
