Mina Ghahremani promoted Doctor in chemistry

Mina Gharhemani on the day of her PhD in organic chemistry at Zanjan IASBS20-Jan-2020 - Congratulations to Mina Ghahremani for her successful PhD final exam taken place today at the Institute for Advanced and Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), Zanjan, Iran

Mina defended a Thesis entitled "Design and Preparation of Novel Electrocatalysts and Catalysts Based on Ordered Mesoporous Silica Functionalized with TEMPO and ABNO and Their Application in Oxidation of Alcohols"

Well done Dr. Ghahremani!

Dr Ghahremani was a doctoral student in organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Babak Karimi, Director of the IASBS. Mario Pagliaro was external advisor.

In 2018, she spent 6 months at Italy’s Research Council in the Labs led by Dr Pagliaro.

Together the team has published a series of important research articles ranging from a new and highly stable sol-gel catalytic electrode (dubbed ZEmoEL) for waste-free alcohol oxidations, through introducing a new heterogeneous version of less molecularly hindered nitroxyl radicals for the aerobic oxidation of alcohols under metal-free conditions, to the development of a new gold-based spherical sol-gel catalyst for solvent-free aerobic oxidations.

"It has been a wonderful perdiod of my of my life" said Mina in a comment "I had the opportunity to explore and develop several new ideas, to learn a lot from practical experience and from advanced education. I wish to thank again Professor Karimi for being a member of his research group in my PhD course and Dr. Pagliaro for the stay at his nice group in Italy".
